The 3 days tour from Marrakech to Fes via Sahara desert is one of the most popular tours routes in Morocco. This tour connects the two imperial cities while discovering the deep south of Morocco. This awesome trip enables you to travel through the old caravan route, and enjoy the beautiful change of landscape and lifestyle of Moroccans: mountains, hills vast desert, palm valley and forests. This tour enables you to explore a big part of Moroccan south, you will be crossing the High Atlas Mountains, visit the curvy roads and perched Berber villages such as the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, Ouarzazate and its studios. Spend your night in the heart of the Dades gorges and discover its canyon. You will pass through the 1000 Kasbahs to Merzouga. In Merzouga, you will have a camel ride through the golden dunes and an overnight with Berbers in a luxury camp. You will have your own tent with private toilet and shower. The next day you will be heading to Fes city through the beautiful Ziz valley, the longest palm valley in Morocco. Before reaching the imperial city, you will stop in the cedar forest to take pictures with playful monkeys and the little Switzerland and its famous lion statue.
Day 1: Marrakech >> High Atlas Mountain >> Ait Ben Haddou >> Taourirt Kasbah >>Ouarzazate >> Dades
At 08:00, your driver will pick you from your hotel or the closest point the car can reaches to. You will cross the high Atlas Mountains through Tizi Ntichka. In the high Atlas, you will enjoy the stunning bird view of the Berber Kasbahs on roadsides. The first site you will be up to is the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah the most famous UNISCO registered Kasbah in morocco. It is considered the best destination for filmmakers and many famous films were filmed in this Kasbah such as “Gladiator”, “Lawrence of Arabia” and “Game of Thrones”. Lunch will be in one of the local restaurant with a terrace view of the Kasbah. After lunch, you will drive to Ouarzazate with option to visit studio of Atlas and Taourirt Kasbah. Ouarzazate is considered the Hollywood of Africa. Through the last years, Ouarzazete hosted many film makers due to it is diverse studios and landscape as well as the rich heritage it consists. After Ouarzazate and its studios, you will continue through the vast orchards of Skoura valley and rose valley to Dades gorges or the Moroccan canyons, as we prefer to call them. Through the way, you will be enjoying beautiful view of the flourishing Damascena rose that was brought by the Berber merchant centuries ago. While in the way to Dades, you will have a couple of stops to enjoy the gorgeous views of the valley and a bizarre rock shape called “the monkey feet”. The night will be spent in a comfortable hotel in Dades.
Day 2: Dades Gorges >> Todra Gorges >> Erfoud >> Rissani >> Erg Chebbi of Merzouga
After breakfast, you will be driving from Dades Gorges to the magnificent golden dunes of Merzouga. The trip will shift from its main road to reach the Todra Ggorges. In these gorges, you have a free time for a short walk around to explore the beauty of the place before travelling south. On the way to merzouga you will enjoy beautiful change of landscape as well as the berber villages and towns such as Tinjdade, Jorf and Erfoud. Erfoud is capital of date fruits and the last city town in the Ziz valley before you get vast Sahara desert. Before getting to Merzouga you will enjoy the beautiful views of the Martian road. In Merzouga you will take a few minutes off road to the edges of the golden dunes where the camels will be waiting you. For the camel ride take only what you will need such as camera and a bottle of water. The other entire luggage will be transported by 4X4 to the camp. In the middle of the majestic golden dunes of Merzouga upload yourself with positive energy and enjoy the magnificent sunset. You can also enjoy sandboarding and ski in soft sand. The camel ride to reach your camp takes 1 hour each way. The camel man will take you to the best spot where you can take pictures and enjoy the best sunset in your life. In the camp, you will be welcomed with tea, date fruits and the beautiful smiles of Berbers. After a cup of mint tea, you will be shown your luxury private tents with private bathroom and shower. Your tent will be equipped with all amenities and comfortable beds. While the dinner is being prepared, you relax and have shower with hot water or have a walk exploring the area. After dinner, the feast will start. You will be sitting around campfire under a starry night. You will be dancing singing and exchange thought and culture with Berbers. After the feast, you can have a short walk in dunes and enjoy the shiny sky; hopefully you see a shooting star 🙂
Day 3: Merzouga >> Erfoud >> Errachidia >> Midelt >> Cedar Forest (Monkeys) >> Fes
The third day starts early! Wake up early to watch the amazing sunrise from the golden dunes. After a fresh breakfast, pack up your luggage and take a camel ride back to the edges of the dunes to start your third tour day. You will drive through and cross the Ziz valley, the longest palm valley in Morocco. You will stop in the stunning panorama of Ait Shakker. On your way to Midelt you will cross the middle Atlas through Tizi Ntelghemt. Then, you reach capital of apple Midelt where you will have lunch in one of the local restaurants. The next site you will be up to and stop at is the Cedar forests and the wild monkeys of Azrou before arriving to your final destination Fes. We will make sure to drop you in your next accommodation!
